Black Clouds

Blackened sky enveloped her A storm fierce and unforeseen Lashing out its vengeance Shattering the serene Yesterday she’d lingered Embraced the sun upon her face Dark clouds just a memory Blue skies in their place. Black clouds too familiar She’d beckoned them for years Now determined to escape them Weary of the tears Fingers of lightning strike her Though guilty of no wrong Flashes of the shackles That bound her for so long Stinging tears of stormy days She’d positioned in the past Blurred the vision of the dream That sunny days would last.

It is human nature to habituate our weaknesses. You artfully describe the hangover period and the problematic recovery. Good write and an easy read!
