Birds I Prefer

what birds do I prefer
to slow me at night?
red winged blackbirds lament
and the mourning doves plight
what birds do I prefer
to greet me each day?
the chickadee's insistence
the cardinal's delight

Jim; I too love the chickadee's! We have a family of them living in some large shrubs across from our house and they are constantly chattering and yes, sometimes scolding us when we are outside. They are so cute and such a delight. Congratulations on being featured. - Lena

So true. It is not just the look but the sounds that make birds so special. Nicely written. I don't feel it is Spring until I see a cardinal.
