When skies are grey and clouds are weeping, Lightning hurls its fiery thorn, Reach for the stars behind the clouds, There shines a sun beyond the storm. Beyond the clouds the sun is reigning In its ceaseless majesty, Clouds will pass and then at last The sun will be set free... Just to shine on you, to light your darkened road, To warm you and comfort you, and help you bear your heavy load. When all our days are dark and lonely, When our nights are filled with fear, If our tomorrows cast anxiety, Our yesterdays shed a tear, If our hearts are cold and rainy, When the storms are hard to bear, Let’s look beyond today's dark clouds, The Son is waiting there... Just to smile on us, to light our darkened road, To warm us and comfort us, and help us bear our heavy load. Beyond the clouds unfolds a sunrise That would not be half as beautiful without the clouds. “They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30)

I wanted to check out one of your older ones, so happy I found this, the imagery is just exquisite, especially the lines 'Lightning hurls its fiery thorn' and 'clouds will pass/sun will be set free' sequence' - love the metaphor of nature and spirituality~

Thank you my dear friend for turning back several pages in the archives to find this one. I like that duality of nature/spirituality, and it shows up a lot in my writings, especially in the earlier ones like this (1979).

A beautiful promise of better things and days to come, my friend. You do have that ability to "see beyond." Lovely phrasing "tomorrows cast anxiety," "lightning hurls its fiery thorn," "yesterdays shed a tear." Amazing imagery - so vivid taking us through time! Congratulations on your first place win!

Strong images rolling like a storm - "lightning hurls its fiery thorn." Amazing picture. This reminds me of your poem with the picture of Heaven's scenery. Both of which I love. Congratulations on your first place win!

Both Gorgeous and inspirational. The perfect entry to the contest to go with that Gif. going back to the other poem's topic that i just read: I had to read parts of Don Quixote in SPANISH. Lord, spare me the agony. Imagine reading Canterbury in another language!!!
