Beyond All Tomorrows

20 Dec 2018 6:06 Pm You entered the room and slid off your sandles I struck a match and lit two candles You opened the wine and poured into glass I lit the fireplace and turned up the gas You gave the victrolla a couple of winds I took you in my arms and we whirled in time You looked into my eyes and saw my soul I looked into your eyes and was made whole The war raged on just a few miles away While to the music the two of us swayed We savoured the moment and lived that one night Our hearts joined together and then took flight No worry for what tomorrow would bring Just letting our souls in harmony sing Love poured forth from so deep within We both new that we would not meet again We woke with the dawning and left to meet our fate You to the field hospital and I to the pearly gates War is hell and parting such sorrow But we had that moment to last beyond all tomorrows
