Beware of Goce
Beware of GOCE
By Elton Camp
Gravity Ocean Circulation Explorer’s a satellite
Its uncontrolled reentry may be a blazing sight
The European device in orbit weighs a ton
Two hundred pound chunks won’t be fun
As to where it is going to say, “Splat,”
Nobody can have a good clue to that
Perhaps into the ocean it will plunge
But into some city it could lunge
So keep your hard hat close at hand
For in a few days it’s going to land
It could crash into your back yard
So it’s wise to remain on guard
It’s expected to hit late Sunday night
Or Monday morning when it’s light
Don’t give in to unreasonable dread
The odds are low it will hit your head
Next year, 100 tons of space debris
Will give us more chances to see
From the heavens come fearful sights
Roaring sounds with flashing lights
