It was in the sorrow
That I learned to empathize and care
It was in the darkness
That my heart spoke the best prayers
It was in the silence
That my voice sounded tender
It was in the fear
That I found the courage, the strength
It was in the yearning
That I learned to be satisfied with what I had
It was in the hopelessness
That my heart confessed its tears
It was in the doubts
That I understood the importance of peace
It was in the struggles
That I found my greatest strengths
It was in the failures
That I discovered my reason to believe
It was in the depression
That I learned true humility
It was in the anguish
That I felt grateful for the joy
It was in the discontent
That I felt satisfied by the simplest pleasures
It was in the letdowns
That I heard the whisper of success
It was in the heartaches
That I experienced hope for what is next
It was in the misery
That my feelings became considerate
It was in the brokenness
That I learned the meaning of together
It was in the grief
That I met with understanding
It was in the melancholy
That I felt best understood by beauty
It was in the wretchedness
That I remembered the happy moments
It was in the shadows
That I learned to reflect sincere love
It was in the gloom
That I surrendered all my suspicions
It was in the misgiving
That I began to find my daring
It was in the worst
That I realized hope was trembling
It was in the wickedness
That I appreciated His grace
It was in the mystery
That I found my greatest challenge
It was in the evil
That I realized there is so much good
It was in the panic
That I felt free from confidence
It was in the timid
That I knew the meaning of assurance
It was in the yesterday
That I learned and grew in love
It was in the death
That I appreciated life’s hope
It was in the question
That I became the most humble
It was in the loss
That I found my way, my dream
It was in the dying
That I knew the meaning of living
It was in the crying
That I found the truest soothing
It was in the recklessness
That I felt the hint of a warning
It was in the senseless
That I discovered what is wise
It was in His darkest moment
That I found the hope for tomorrow
It was in His gift of love
That I felt the new life come to my heart
It was in His righteousness
That I learned to be humble, to believe
It was in His grace toward me
That I knew true freedom – salvation
Often, it is the very thing we think will bring us down
That carries us into the lesson, where we find the meaning,
The hope, the joy – the love that lingers inside the heart
Who knows that God is always faithful – even when we don’t hear
Him, He is always awake and always bringing the spirit
A sense of the beauty, a sense of the truth, a sense of the joy
That comes to those who know – His grace and His love
The whole reason that we can know the peace that is alive,
Breathing out miracles with a light that shines so very bright
With the light of life – Sonshine discerns the meaning behind
Every battle that comes – be it bitter or beautiful
Thanks to Him, we can always know that it is beneficial to us
