Beneath the Storm

By Laura January 26, 2016 Two souls held away inside today Just take the key and throw it away Shift your eyes away from this heartless bay Through laughter in the dark today, we'll chase away looks of dismay We're turning into the drugs that have no name Bitter truths divide, but lies return from where they came We're intertwining lines that climb our iron walls Trying not to trip and fall; to stall that fatal curtain call Its the disease of our broken minds that bind our wandering hands To know our stand will get so high, that we will smile when we land But truer words were never heard than when we stood outside the herd So we held hands and met our lips without the help of timeless words So when its finally time to meet the morning winter sun There emerges a distance that glistens where loneliness begun Its letting go and knowing that, these lies are ancient artifacts So clear to me in what we see; some things we're never taking back
