Below
I lay still to hear an unknown sound
Below the creaking floorboard
may as well been vibrations from my rebuttal to fear
Again I hear a sound, then a creak
My heart makes a sound back with
a beat bigger than life
A creek I hear again more vigorously
My bed responses back with a more vigilant grating
I can hear heavy breathing yet again could be my own breathing
Just then I inhale a bad scent
It leaves a bad taste in my mouth as
warmth of whatever below gets daringly closer
My mind starts playing tricks on me as I start imagining a troll
A big ugly troll with long dirty claws
The floorboard starts trembling like my teeth
I don't even know what to do
what do I do
what can I do
I grab my blanket and pull it over my head
The cat jumps on me as I start giggling
