Being a Father To You
From even before you were born
A hope to mend what was torn
You twisted and kicked up a storm
Too eager to come into this home
You heard my screams and shouts
I'm not proud of my verbal insults
To you I hope to be a better father
Than I’ve been a lover to your mother
She deserves much better I know
And your welcome arrival, we both knew
Wouldn’t be enough to mend the cuts
Than ran too deep into our hearts
I imagined your screeching laughter
And your beautiful smile my daughter
Because being a father to you
I honestly have no light, no clue
I wanted a brother for the angel Michael
But God blessed us with you Chiazelle
