Beginnings & Ends
this is no beginning.
though I saw the thought rise as from
some one thing.
this is no end.
it rises not first & only but
in the one moment the one thing
fell upon you & arose as from you
as from something not of you but entirely
you
(in this moment.)
with that one thought rising
i’ll fall to myself and rise with you again
(as thought becomes the moment.)
as I rise to death I rise to you.
as I rise to this moment I rise to death,
& death is different in the rising,
as it rises in meat to fall on the mouth,
as it rises in the thought to fall on every unclosed eye.
