Before the Whirlwind Becomes the Storm

Poem by Mpho Leteng & Donald M. Kuutsi Before the storm of contrived emotion engulfs us, Before we drown in the depths of our tangled feelings, Let us step ashore, leave the tempest behind, Find our separate paths under the open sky. Weary from the relentless chase, Away from the truth that beckons us, We need not drown in sweet lies, For they can never replace the stark reality we both know. The house we built is but a shell, Not a home where hearts can dwell, So you take your road, and I shall take mine, Before the whirlwind becomes the storm that shatters us. Before the sun surrenders to the shadows, Let us part ways, find our own light, In the darkness that looms ahead, Let us embrace the truth, and set ourselves free.
