Beating Still
Beating Still
I saw you there across the room
I could see you had been crying.
I saw the picture in your hand
I knew one you love is dying.
I closed my eyes and bowed my head
oh how I felt your grief.
And I prayed to the Father
asking He send you relief.
It was then a newborns cry
could be heard just down the hall.
I saw the traces of a smile
your tears they ceased to fall.
A young man’s crying his young wife’s dying
is there no mercy left on earth?
A man should lose the one he loves
as she gives his child birth?
People rushing by you now
I see understanding start.
Now you see too late for me
but I gave her my heart.
Tears will come again my love
no doubt they always will.
But I’m not gone I’ve just moved on
my heart is beating still.
