Be a Man

I was always taught Men shouldn't cry Now when I look back I'm left to wonder why Lack of expression Emotions held inside Silly badge of honor A mans stoic pride Hearts that are broken Pain from many years Souls that are drowning In pools of unshed tears Strength redefined Time to be real Men no longer shackled They can express how they feel

You are so right, men are sexy when they show emotion, as long as it not tooo much, but women already have their robots, they don't need their men to be the same, what fun is that!

This poem speaks volumes to me. I agree that men should be free to express themselves. Only, not in such ways that make men look, um... less than a man... meaning, because I am compassionate does not mean that I am not strong or able to protect what is mine... Make sense? Read my poem, "A Man Does Weep". PR

It's so hard to be a man...I'm so thankful that I can have the cleansing comfort of tears....and as you said, Real MEN can too! :) Good night...

I'm always so surprised to find people that still think bottled up feelings is a good thing - a sign of manhood even! After years of keeping things secret and then finally showing my writings to people it was (not to sound cliche) quite literally a burden coming off my shoulders.

It's the way of man's life through which experience is asked by.......to gather for obtaining perfection. No one can be out of that whoever he may be. It's a world wide poem for man's feeling. Loved always, bl

I totally agree that men should be allowed to cry. It's not unmanly at all. One can only hurts one's self if all that bottles up inside. it has to go somewhere. Great write, Richard. Love ya, Toquyen

Certainly can relate to this one, my friend! P-Soup friend, Carol Eastman, has travelled to Arizona to be with her Dad while he goes through chemotherapy! She reads my poems to him and says they brighten up his days. Brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye to know my silliness has helped him laugh during some tough times!

That is a wonderful gift you are giving him, they do say laughter is the best medicine. I am reading your poems as preventative medicine. Take care jack.
