B'Day Poem

Blowing out the candles on my cake I muse with the music of this mortal sphere. And congratulate and condole at once; The agony and ecstasy meld in one celestial ball Unkempt with imagined beauty and power- Beyond reckoning. Confine it not, nor fetter, nor furl But let fly surreptitious sobriety That hath on winged fancy flown And forever toward Heaven's unboundedness.
