Battle Worn

I wish I hadn’t held you back I should have let the wolf run free Let him vanquish the fierce enemy I hate it and the strength I lack I tear myself to pieces everyday Rocking back and forth in the storm I grow hollow exhausting every form I fight to make it through the fray The wounds are beginning to show Energy no longer being what’s taken More stolen now, no longer forsaken Gritting teeth through every blow They will not see all of my agony Only for them will they see a smile Work, determination worthwhile Because soon I know I’ll be free
