Batman

Wearing a dishtowel around his shoulders as a cape This gleeful child claiming to be Batman Jumping off the footstool, Leaping around the room, Determined to save the world Had to grow up A world of worries of his own, The enemy is a mighty foe There's always a furrow in the brow of youth A childhood world he must let go When the world contrives to knock you down, who will come to rescue you? __________________________

Had to do a new comment box.....I anted to say that I have to work hard at poetry, and I feel like it comes so naturally for you in your beautiful free verse. You are a true talent in contemporary poetry. I belong to another century I fear!! (and you would have done well in an older century too, Carrie. you are very versatile). Luv, Andrea

Carrie, I went back to your first page of poetry to find one I have not seen and this is adorable. Also I wanted you to know that I appreciate what you said to me on my number one spot. I hated to go above you because I feel that you are a more "natural" poet than I am and I hate the pressure of number one in contests. haha. Well, I will enjoy it for the time being until you pass me up again. Because it's a lot of pressure at the top! and you are more deserving.

I can relate completely. It's hard to see our kids struggling. You have done a wonderful job with this poem.

Congratulations on your poetry being featured this week. My now fourteen year old son loved Batman when he was small. He had a cape that he requested for Christmas. He wore it all the time. Thank you for bringing those great memories to mind. He is going through some tough times right now and rarely smiles but then he always had a great one. Smiles to you from Lolita
