Basements Are Scary Places
Basements Are Scary Places
By Elton Camp
A dark basement with creaking stairs
To enter alone, only the foolish dares
Those who claim there’s naught to fear
Of lurking monsters have failed to hear
Because a basement’s a dim, musty place,
That’s an ogre’s natural dwelling space
That monsters can’t exist, don’t believe
Sophisticated folks don’t allow to deceive
Take along a flashlight and without doubt
When you reach the last step, it’ll go out
From the darkness will come a moan
Creeping behind, the brute will groan
A hand with claws will grab your arm
As you cry out with the greatest alarm
Into its glowing eyes you’ll peer
Wish you were anywhere but here
Greater caution most surely was needed
This warning, you’ll wish you’d heeded
