Baffles

Squirrels leap with vain effort, Baffles guard the seeds. Autumn's bounty held aloft, Nature's jest in silent play.

I only saw some squirrels once in North London. Your poem makes me curious and I admire the way squirrels guard their food.

Thank you for your comment. Squirrels are survivors in cities and the countryside. I love their playfulness. Don

Hi Don , I enjoyed this poem, it certainly put a smile on my face , they are the most intelligent creature I have encountered , I have squirrels who lift up the lids take the seed and put the lids back , they play with me as in my mid because whatever I devise they have an answer that always baffles me . This is a fun poem Don, I admit I had to google what 'baffles' are as I was baffled to the context of the seeds being guarded lol. I do enjoy reading poems about squirrels as we have none on our little island:-) hugs Jan xx
