"A bottomless pit of violence, a Tower of Babel where all are speakers and no hearers." by Alexander Smith
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
War torn or more, torn asunder We all march to propaganda and for violence, hunger There was a time we were alive, but now we all just slumber So polluted in our minds, we are beyond encumbered We are beyond a servant, less free than slaves Where they struggled to survive, we dig our own graves Where their resistance met afflictions, ours come as we behave Just submission without question of the rights we've waived Of the lives destroyed through these crimes prolonged Found our home within a system to which we don't belong Became patrons of wars and let them wage, lifelong While chanting our allegiance to a culling song And it is holding strong, far from waning The repetitions of the crowd have called out, arraigning In judgment, always judgment there is no abstaining And the world is bleeding out, it is soaked and staining Martyred, murdered, maimed and mad We are psycho-civilized from a launching pad Letting hypocrisy erupt like we are bombing lands Exploding with compassion of selfish demands It’s a great divide, while baring the same evils It's a tug-of-war where the fighting's gleeful Where hatred is enamored with an intent that's lethal Seeing ally or enemy rather than each as people Propagated and seduced, discipled, and fed Indoctrination all deciding, what we will defend You see, there is no family, there are no friends Just cults by the legions of the latest trends Leading you astray, won’t you disembark Won’t you flee from the bindings of an endless dark Stray from endless babel and listen, guarding your heart From the systems of the world that would steal your spark
Submission without questions is exactly where we are at. Freedom without a pass. A lot has happened and will happen. Torture, killings, deceits, betrayal from every sector and even loved ones. In all the chaos and battles we would sail through. "And the world is bleeding out, it is soaked and staining." We bleed in Colour unnamed. Great write.
Hi Sara, I believe, Sotto, only wants the actual word as the title.. I would not want your wonderful poem being disqualified.. Your poem is a powerful and thought-provoking reflection on the dangers of complacency and conformity in modern society. It challenges readers to question authority, think critically, and strive for a more just and compassionate world.
Sara, so poetically and beautifully expressed and so frightening are your lines! Wise beyond words, the message you convey and we should all take heed for we are lost! Man never seems to learn! This is an important write! What an intelligent and powerful entry for the contest!
Powerful diction, Sara--fierce voice of your poem resonates throughout:--- Letting hypocrisy erupt like we are bombing lands Exploding with compassion of selfish demands-Where hatred is enamored with an intent that's lethal Seeing ally or enemy rather than each as people. Impressive vocabulary adorns the essence of your poem.
Dear Sara, This speaks volumes in its stark reflection on the chaos of modern society. I love how your words create a picture of a world torn apart by violence, propaganda, and apathy. Sara, the imagery is hauntingly beautiful, forcing us to confront uncomfortable truths about our collective humanity. Your poetic prowess shines through as you navigate the complexities of societal decay with raw honesty and insight. - Blessings, Daniel
