Awake

The light shines through... Peering into my tired eyes... Awake, to a brand new day; And watch another lonely sun rise. A subtle yawn to shift gears, Wiping the last bit of sleep; Stretched out, with a shrug... Just another moment in which to keep... Sliding from beneath the covers, To expose life as it truly is... Awake, to a distilled equilibrium... Where possessions are a miss; For what reality ties down, Only dreams can set free... Life lived under cover; To choose who gets to see... Morning thoughts that drift, Before coming into sight... Awake, to a brand new day... As the dreams land from flight. Ever growing expectation: Of what we're meant to be; While hiding inside ourselves... With deaf ears to our body’s plea. Just who are we? And what have we become? Playing an unending hide and seek, Until we’re all blind and dumb... It’s time we woke up, To shed this falling fake skin; And awaken as the real you... To be what you should’ve been.
