Avoiding the Albatross
Words said in anger, often mistaken
Heard by others in a way unforeseen
Out of context, their ire does awaken
Never hearing what you meant in between.
So often in haste words cannot be found
So we fail to get the meaning across
Never stopping to see just how they sound
They become our illusive albatross.
Once ‘round your shoulders, they will follow you
Until somehow you can set the words free
And let the real meaning finally come thru
So speak your words slowly and carefully.
Then say what you mean, ‘n mean what you say
N'er give an albatross a reason to stay!
