Avatar, Avatar Do tell if you please Is the one you depict A glum or a tease? Is the one you portray A friend or a foe? Avatar, Avatar You MUST let me know! He seems debonair She’s all sugar and spice This one is too "wild" But this one seems nice This one seems so shy This one is too bold This one's SIZZLING HOT! This one just seems...cold The face that you show Is that a disguise? Is that blue or green In those dazzling eyes? Is the person who puckers Real sexy or plain? Is the one with the glasses A charm or a pain? Is Miss Beauty Queen All pretty inside? Does Mr. Kind Looking Have demons to hide? Is Miss Sultry Siren Curvaceous and hot? Is Mr. “I’m Cool!” All covered in spots? Avatar, Avatar Why are you a fruit? Or a cat or a dog? Does the character suit? A scary faced monster A symbol? How sweet! Avatar, Avatar The intrigue's a treat! Avatar, Avatar, Don’t tell me…I’ll faint Is my favorite poet A sinner or saint? Oh answer me this… Are you really real? These pictures I see Do they breathe? Do they feel? Avatar, Avatar I know you won’t tell Your icons bespeak A heaven or hell Not one poet can peek To see the REAL me Avatar, Avatar... That's YOUR mystery! Eileen Manassian Ghali

Ah yes, the avatar can be such a mysterious thing! I think it has been hmm ages since I posted an actual image of mine here-- and that was a baby picture! I enjoyed reading this, and the surmisings (I know possibly not a word, but my brain is shot, haha)-- so much can be behind the avatar, and it can also mean so much. Who knows? Maybe 1day I'll post a recent pic, a fuzzy, manipulated 1,limited time only! people might be less inclined to go to my page! haha!btw, replied to soupmail :) hugs 2 u!

Nice to be back in PS Land. I've missed reading all this great writing. I'm getting my writing legs back and I'm reading more and more. This one was intriguing and I'm glad I found it.... I've tried to change avatars but only found some new cusswords..... This one shows the reality of me so I live with it. Some of my latest posts are worth reading.... "Angel With An M16" and "Rest In Peace" are among my personal favorites.. I'm happy to see you still quite active..... Still Love Ya..... Jake

this is really fun to read, Eileen. Glad I finally am seeing it. Love this!! yes, Avatars are sure strange what some people pick to represent themselves. I should update mine but I am so lame with doing pictures. I might still be in my early 50's twenty years from now using my sunglasses avatar.

i very much enjoyed this poem, eileen! i often wonder about the pictures that people choose to depict themselves (especially the cartoon or symbolic ones) and you've captured those thoughts perfectly here! (by the way, i love your picture with the poem!)

Thanks, Ilene. You are kind. People don't understand why I change my avatar so often...what I'm trying to project. They don't understand that I'm unhappy with my body. Tubby girl....At least I can work on my face and hair and let them speak for me. Ahhhh...confessions. Well, it's the truth. It helps my feelings of inferiority in other areas. At least I'm happy with my hair! :) hugs

The avatar reveals so much..When I see your avatar I can see sincierity and depth in your eyes and a warm.welcome in your smile..Some avatars can be deceitful too ..but that is life..and somehow through poetry We can transmit an image of whom people truly are.An entertaining poem Eileen.Sorry for any typo ..Im writing in the dark..Btw,centered my last poem..big smiles : )

This is a pleasant and entertaining poem, Eileen. I'm fascinated by avatars; not all photos are real, and some names could be both male or female. Pictures could be a reflection of the persons posting them; blanks are mysterious. And yours? Always lovely and with a smile to match:) hugs // paul

And who knows if the picture that is shown really is the person unless you meet them. I prefer to hide behind my dragonfly I have want my poems to be the focus not how people perceive I look:-) Hugs jan xx 7 xx

Of course, sweetie. You have to feel comfortable. It was all in jest. I'm ridiculous with how often I change my avatar...psychologist has the answer to why that is! ;) You're right....we never know, do we? Love the dragon fly. Such pretty colors. HUGS!!!!

- Without avatar you create your own image - There are several that I wonder: Is that a she or a he .. ?... name that is unknown to me - such as : Jan or Kim: it is a HE names in Norway :) - You have many different avatars .... and all equally beautiful, dear Eileen - One enjoyable poem to read :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)
