Autumn's Turn
Cool upon the evening's glow
and the falling of one leaf
Turns the passing of the year
like a lonely midnight thief.
Harvest of what had remained
fulfilled time's honored quest
About the long days of toil
which carries one into rest.
Rewards flow from bounded yield
long conceded to the dust,
Doing more and then again
doing much more than they must.
Readied now for coming change
and at peace with all you reap,
Giving thanks for all that's been,
moving into newborn's sleep.
