Autumn's Breath
Dry leaves rustle with each step
Noisy autumn here beneath my feet
My golden wood a wondrous place
Woodpecker's song repeat, repeat...
The stag his antlered crown parades
While gleaning in the harvest fields
The pheasant cock calls his mate
Such small wonders this autumn yields...
The fire draws me to sit awhile
And ponder the passing of the year
How quickly it is autumn's time again
Time to remember and hold it dear
