Autumn Fire
The flame of fall’s ablaze in Maple trees.
Their dying ardor loudly do we see.
Hues of red, gold and saffron fill the eye,
contrasting with the pewter pregnant sky.
Crayola season of cool air or warm,
makes longing for the love of hearth and home.
Our August frolic seems much less of zest,
as autumn’s fire now draws us nigh to rest.
These velvet days with little summer suns,
we cherish dear, our last few tepid ones.
Florescent light the makes the leaves aglow,
sunshine so bright it heats the Earth below.
An autumn fire will linger in our hearts,
long after fall and Hallows Eve departs.
A reddened ember smolders in the mind,
to burn real bright with next October time.
