Autumn

Along came a season anew. Upon the sidewalks, caught in rakes. Unforgettable sounds it makes. Cold skies of periwinkle blue. Muted calls of a distant loon. The quiet warmth of afternoon. The golden days, how fast they flew. With the leaves set aloft in spires, By paired, coasting bicycle tires. When, to a close, the season drew, Let go from the elm trees' bare bones, Her burnt orange, rusty tones. Still, autumn, it never leaves you. They can't take that away from me, However old I grow to be. Along came a season anew. Cold skies of periwinkle blue. The golden days, how fast they flew. When, to a close, the season drew. Still, autumn, it never leaves you.

Thank you Suzanne ... Poetry Soup will not be the same without Connie. Her presence is going to be missed, but she will not be forgotten.
