Aurora
AURORA
What godlike strokes colour brush our world
That leaves us awestruck when unfurled.
This aurora of wonderment shares its delight
That leaves us gasping as our souls ignite.
Greens and pinks blaze the cold polar skies
This natural wonder, appearing before our eyes.
Oxygen and nitrogen blaze from solar winds unseen
This miracle of nature scientists hold in such esteem.
Our ozone guardian protector of our little blue sphere
Neglected by commercial interests is obvious and clear.
So we watch lights dancing, with nature’s purest grace,
As it reminds us all that we have a very special place
For that the lights that paints this earth in wonder.
It reminds us all that we must not mindlessly plunder.
