August Nights

August Nights In a matter of moments the pink peach blush of evening sets the grand opening of the night sky Off in the distance sets the unseen sun down deep into the chasms of the earth hidden in the confines of the unseen world. Clouded grays and purple hues erupt just above the far horizon and the quiet speaks to call all creatures to rest. Last feeding of the day mother wren slips in and little peeps cry for one more morsel then sleep. Locusts, cicadas and crickets begin the endless chirp and drone resounding clicks from tree to tree. Evening falls earlier each evening the sun dropping down before the children’s hour and sleepy dreams dance and twirl in their heads. In the darkness the fireflies glow on and off flitting and flickering on the breeze and soon, all is hushed and still Waiting, resting, holding out for day when life restarts again.

This is realistically descriptive of august nights, when darkness falls a bit earlier day by day. I can't imagine you living in a city! Regards // paul
