Hi Carolyn I saw your contest for the Birthday poems, but all of my are too long. I am sending them on here, so you can still read them and maybe show it to the birthday girls/boys. Poem 1. Sometimes I am in denial I'm starting to go senile Forgetting things more and more My minds closing up its door My kids and hubby have a laugh Having fun on my behalf Turning it into a game To lessen my fear and shame There's no chance I'll be improving They keep me happy with amusing Stories of my grand adventures Like forgetting my new dentures In a box on the cab seat Making it so hard to eat Or buying a pretty dress So that I can look my best Getting lots of silly stares Without my bra and underwear Food shopping does not go well My family can never tell What is going to be made Home made soup or braised lampshade A chore that I should never do Is washing the clothes for you Red and white clothes joined in bleach Turns them pink just like a peach My antics is what you'll see Every day you are with me My family is never down When they have a live in clown Acting crazy and so weird From a disease everyone fears Poem 2. Happy Birthday To Me I'm Old As Can Be I Am Forgetful And Lost My Memory I Need Glasses To See My Eyesight Will Flee My Ears Constantly Need Help To Hear Thee To Bed I Will Be My Dreams Are Set Free I Soon Will Be Snoring A Whole Lot Of ZZZZZZ's Have a wonderful day

My birthday is not until November, but I can appreciate both of these entries. By the way, here's "Lies" by the Knickerbockers:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7DQGHU3W3U

Robin, sweetie, you can easily solve the problem. Take poem two and double up the lines. It's all monorhyme, so you can do line one: Happy Birthday to me, I'm old as can be. Line two: use next two small lines of your poem. You will end up with only six lines!! Love that second one too.

Dear Robin, These are both VERY funny! I hope you will put the second one in the contest. I'm flexible with the number of lines when the contest is this witty. I will definitely be using it in the Birthday Booklet. I'll call it "Happy Birthday to Me." Thank you so much! Love, Carolyn
