Athenian Goddess Verses 1,2
Athenian Goddess
Verses 1 & 2
8 Verses in Total
Exquisite Athenian goddess bronzed,
A creation from God’s own hand,
Sculptured in your mother’s womb,
That suckled Beauty from her breast,
As she gently fondled dreams to sleep,
Whilst deepest passions raged, unknown,
In the shadows of Milos, where I lay,
Under the shade of the red bud tree,
Under the shade of my love.
Purity in rapture, unaged, without blemish
In thought or immortal soul,
The blood-line of gods flowing through
Beauty’s veins, a panoply of rainbows dressed,
Salt water skin and silken robes,
And dreams beyond my wildest found ,
Of flesh that steals the mind of modest thought,
And deprives my soul of God.
