As Snowflakes Fell

Moonlight glowed in a gown of gold array Luminant stars sparkled above Calais* I would drive my love in a horse-drawn sleigh and keep her warm with blanket of crochet. As snowflakes fell, I'd offer a bouquet and speak words of love in polished cliche. We'd dine by firelight with wine and filet. Nibble sweet morsels on dessert's buffet, then propose as tears filled her eyes of grey. November 3, 2022 MonoMixoRhyme Contest Hosted by Hilo Poet *HMS has Calais as 3 syllables ~ PSSC as 2 Word count as 66

Smashing romantic monorhyme, Jenna. Your end comments highlight the reason I detest syllable counters. I recently posted a poem with the word ‘cuddly’ in it. When spoken in poetic metre it will often be said as cuddle-ee, so 3 syllables. Google insists it’s 2. I went with google and stuck in an entirely superfluous word on the basis that maybe I’m the only person who says ‘cuddle-ee’. Personally I think my way is better but no one seemed to notice. Best of luck in the contest. Terry

Bites, doesn't it? I have no idea why any word can be varied by the number of syllables it holds. Perhaps it's a geographic thing. At any rate, I enjoy your comments and fell they are quite cuddly, no matter how many syllable that word has. I trust howmanysyllables. Thanks, Terry.

A masterclass of monorhyme Jenna, with a very romantic piece to accompany, certainly no cliches here, just an exquisitely polished poem, and a great one for the contest, cheers David

Quite a romantic scene you create Jenna, for some reason Dr Zhivago came to mind. Tom

Snow, horse drawn sleigh? I see why you envision Dr. Zhivago. Tom, you are a staple in my comment boxes, and I appreciate each one you offer.

It would seem so, Arlo. Whether written of joyous times or tragedy, romance comes to the fore. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much, Milt. This was a second effort, and still not sure if it follows the rules set for the contest, but so be it.
