As I See Myself

Looking past the mirror, My mind's reflection adored a youthful smile seen ; Your warmth remembers me, Just the way it used to BE..... ~~~^¿^~~~ I look into the mirror, now in my later years, and I see an image, an illusion of self. An illusion because of it's temporality. Also because it's not a true reflection of my mind. I view the image now at over 60 years old, knowing the image can't shoot the jump shot I once did at 16, nor swing the bat I once did in my youth ; but my mind still believes it can. The me that has grown to understand and know, The me that has gotten closer to my true self, also closer to my God within'. The me, getting closer to the Likeness and preparing to shed the Image, the illusion, like the chrysalis, eventually casting off it's old self, and becoming a butterfly. From the illusion of the Image, too the trueness of the Likeness, How truly great it is To BE...
