As I Dream

As I dream a dream that dares To keep me in the loop I ponder why my happiness Is poetry for soup The color of my grass is green To greet the morning light And yet I know the morning dew Is better late at night The dandelions roar at me Before the morning hides They burst into a thousand puffs And multiply the prides A dream is for this heart of mine To chart a course for home The equinox of my design To splash the tidal foam The shadows of December fall And settle like the snow But when they do I like to call On dreams of long ago. Bryan, if you keep writing them, I will always read them. Your rhyming is always top notch. There's a beautiful poignancy that pervades all your words here; your last stanza is truly brilliant. The dandelions 'roaring' is clever. (I love the word dandelions; from the French for Dents de Lion or Lion's teeth which is what they look like in that stage before they 'burst into a thousand tears') Just wonderful. Cheers - Gary
