As Fingers Thaw
As fingers thaw, they can now bend
to your sweet will, my dear old friend
around that pen, or to those keys
to dabble in sweet memories
adding your own spice to the blend
Winter gnarls bones and can suspend
desire to write, she won’t pretend
that she is kind; she feels unease
as fingers thaw
So hasten then to put an end
to Winter’s ill, go heal and mend
those poems hurt by her painful freeze
Let them go free, cajole and tease
it’s their time now to set the trend
as fingers thaw
