As Darkness Descends
Blue morphs into a misty gray
within twilight's surreal light.
And dusk dissolves daylight away,
shading silhouettes inked by night.
Scarlet rivers flowing blood-red,
spill over the horizon's edge.
And as a crimson sky is bled,
vermilion tints the mountain ledge.
Day acquiesces to the night
as darkness descends on the earth.
And stealthily slips out of sight,
preparing for the sun's rebirth.
A liquid moon pools high above
a fledgling firefly's flashing flight.
And beams down on young hearts in love,
imbuing passion with its light.
