As Autumn Arrives
As autumn arrives she heralds
The shortening days and changing of weather
The trees are stripped bare of their cover
And that doesn’t make things any better
Wet days give way to hoarfrost
Light snow slowly begins to hover
Mornings so cool, shivering as we wake
Drinking coffee with icy fingers
We wonder what this day will bring
We sit and linger as we plan an outing
To the orchard for abundant harvest
Apple cider awaits us there
This is autumn at its best!
