Around the Bend
The icicles have melted;
The snow drifts lost some height.
We took a walk this afternoon
To bask in late-day light.
My jacket was unbuttoned;
I left my scarf behind.
The birds were chirping gaily
For there'd soon be worms to find.
It felt not like a respite
But more like a proper end
As we bid farewell to winter
Knowing spring's around the bend.
