Aria - By Acker Bilk
ARIA- BY ACKER BILK
Rushing home after doing a week's hard graft
The lads running ahead, as the lasses laughed
Washed and scrubbed best party frocks & suits
Alas some young men no shoes still wore boots
Then that sweet smell of perfume wafting pure
Happy lasses there ready heading for the door
Laddies all waiting to escort them all to the ball
All proud and promptness giving it some wrawl
The energy was electric, everyone gave their all
The band was playing merrily within the big hall
As evening slipped into the early hours of morn
And the last and final tune played in sad forlorn
No lad was left standing, nor lasses in their chair
All on to the dance floor, last goodbyes to share
Acker played Aria as each slipped out of the door
With every heart gladden with Acker’s final score
Hand in hand up the coming sunrise cobbled road
With each doorstep reached, the music did erode
Night of passion given to fall on Acker’s final note
To one of the best tunes for Acker Bilk was wrote
