Are Our Freedoms Free

Some say our freedoms don’t matter And they’ll always be around But these people have never visited The Viet Nam Wall where a lot of names are found Nor have they been in a Confederate Cemetery And read off the names one by one Or seen those crosses over in France Where many a mother lost their son And have you ever visited Gettysburg Or walked where trenches used to stand Back when that First World War Killed off a many a good young man So don’t try your hypocritical language And say that our freedom is free Because without those with guts to fight In slavery stands you and me So go ahead and yell all those lies About our rights coming from the man That sits in that oval office The one who never makes a real stand I’ll always treasure our soldiers Who gave up family, home and even life And walked through hell and then back again With only a prayer, a buddy and a knife
