Apples - Multiple Haiku

It bounced off the truck And then rolled down the highway Apple turnover ----------------------------------------- How 'bout them apples When Jonathan McIntosh Won the spelling bee ---------------------------------------- Apple of my eye Jenny had the sweetest smile For another guy ---------------------------------------- Right down to the core When that apple crossed the plate An infield dribble ------------------------------------------------------ Just one little hole In that shiny red apple Just one little worm -------------------------------------------------------------

Who is Jenny? Is she a lost love? Have I been cast aside like a short dildo? What? Love, Old daver

Hi Daver, first thank you for your kind words regarding my poem. Now, to answer your question regarding haiku. It's pretty widely accepted that English haiku do not have to adhere to the strict syllable count as it is an Asian form which sometimes doesn't work without adding meaningless words to fill the count. Some editors still like the 5-7-5 structure, so it's best to check the guidelines before submitting. Some masters use less than half the original count. I hope that helps. Karen

What a creative way to use this short form!! I really got a good chuckle out of the first haiku and lured me in for the rest. What enjoyable reading. Thank you for sharing. Karen
