Appeal Iii
You can never conquer
What you never confront,
But fearing the confrontation
Will make you put up a front
But a frontal with no substance
Will leave you out on your luck
Because what's real will just reveal
The truth you shield yourself from
When appeal is the goal,
Difficult is the race
You'll dig yourself in a hole
Trying to pick up the pace
The weight of pride will drag you down
And turn your race to a chase,
Trying to run from yourself
And inner conflicts you face
Always disguising your face
With things you think build you up,
Ashamed to show who you are
Because of how it may look
But simply changing the cover
Will never change up the book;
Inside resides the memory
Of the pages you took
All of the things that you hide,
The lying life you decide
Will distill the life from in you,
Leaving you broken and dry
Living lies will just defeat you
And make you ask yourself why;
In the end you'll never win
No matter how hard you try.
