Running through the Lost Forest of no tomorrows, my heart beats at warp speed as the hideous howls draw nearer. My thoughts briefly digress to the world I knew before. I had no time for God or religion. My only goals in life were self-centered and ambition oriented. O how I long to return to my yesterdays! I would change my ways and repent. This beast will surely end my life of todays and cast me into an abyss of eternal darkness and oblivion. Instinctively, I get down on my knees and pray, but alas, 'tis too late, too late. My executioner has come upon me. I bow my head and willingly submit to the inevitable. Blood red moon tonight Starry skies have disappeared Apocalypse now

Wow, powerful! There is still time for repentance, the thief dying on a cross next to Jesus didn't pray a fancy prayer, just "Lord, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom" and Jesus assured him that "Truly, this day you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43. He sees the heart, He is the Savior. All those who truly believe on Him and repent will be saved. He goes to prepare a place for us, so that where He is, we can be also. The last breath on earth, and then the first one in heaven. <3

It's good to realize that we all sin and fall short of the glory of God, that's why He sent us a Savior through Jesus. Anyway, thank you for writing this. I think we are in the last days, really. I don't understand the Book of Revelation though I've studied it. I know one thing, once it starts it will get really bad. There has always been tribulations on this earth, but that one will be really horrible, and many will die. Jesus forgives, if we ask. The last second is not too late, but why put it off till the last minute, that may be too late if one doesn't see it coming, now is a very good time to place our trust in Him! <3

I missed seeing this poem of great angst. This one is so hard hitting ! But as long as you repent, it is never too late. No apocalypse will hover over you. You'll be safe in the hands of God. Congratulations Tom on your POTD

Wow, what a thought-provoking and brilliant haibun with extraordinary skills that describe palpable and profound depth in such an evocative way! You've truly described how a person with self-centered ambitions and no faith in His Power would finally succumb to the oblivion and forget breathing in the abyss of darkness. Sigh, we often tend to forget that nothing is actually in our hands when our fate has already been scripted by the paramount God. Indeed, I truly loved reading this so much!
