Antiques

My parents would be horrified if I described them antique With their laughter lines and wrinkles they really are unique They are getting old now but are invaluable and precious to me I dread to think when the day arrives - my parents I will never see I watch the Antiques Roadshow and they give out a valuation How can you put a value on parents – they are my one salvation I am so lucky to still have them, they have had many years on this earth Without the two of them there would never have been my birth So cherish what is precious to you, it may not be worth a lot But look after aged parents they are the only ones you’ve got 21st April 2014 Submitted to Black Eyed Susan’s Antiques Free Poetry Contest

Thanks Paul I was so delighted to be placed with this - I wasn't sure it actually fitted in with the category 'antiques' but it was my interpretation of the theme and am so amazed to get such a high placement. Hugs as ever my friend. Jan xxxx

Oh David your comments have made my day. My parents could nearly be classed as antiques in my eyes but they are so precious and I am truly blessed to have them both. Hugs Jan x

So true! Both my parents are gone. My father passed away last March and my mother's been deceased for nearly 19 years. A powerful message, nicely written! Milt
