Another Year
A year has gone by, let it go,
Embrace the new year as it comes;
Past skirmishes, and slights, let go,
Let’s greet happiness in our homes;
Another year is upon us,
Amidst new start-ups and new hopes;
Time for us all to greet and bless,
Honest opinions avoid tropes;
One more year thus, has gone away,
Our blunders, still, are holding sway;
How have we let it slip away,
Like sand through our fingers each day;
The time is not to fret or frown,
No point in telling all in town;
‘Cause it could lead to a breakdown,
Lest people should call thee a clown;
Wishes, greetings, also blessings,
To our trusty friends, good tidings;
New year comes to tug at feelings,
That make us think of reflectings;
Resolutions made and broken,
And to make with no fear again;
Even if in good health or pain,
Let not our efforts go in vain;
Wishes are in order to all,
Let’s greet them first and foremost, call;
If you remain aloof and tall,
People will know you have some gall;
Every human is good at heart,
Unless devil sends them astray;
It’s our duty, fight from the start,
Keep dark thoughts and evil away;
So, make merry before it ends,
If friendship broken, make amends;
Time for new ideas, new trends,
As the New Year among us blends.
