Another Real Day In the Life
i hold her until she drifts off to sleep
hoping she will feel better, i gently grease her chest
this is not about being a typical male tonight
this is about helping to return her to wellness so she can get back to facing the world
her three day struggle hurts much deeper than i came close to thinking
if she gets any worse, it just may lead me to drinking
as she wakes up, she tells me that her head is pounding and that she is experiencing chills
i get up to go grab her electric blanket and then i make her some chicken noodle soup
after giving her the soup, i then make her some hot honey lemon tea
an hour and a half later we both drift off to a deep sleep
the alarm reminds us both what time it really is
i get up to get ready for my sixteen hour day
she lays back down to get herself further rest
i fix the covers for her and kiss her on her too warm forehead and tell her to get plenty of rest
thank the Lord that it is Friday
i eat my breakfast of a regimen of vitamins and some orange juice
then i am off to set up my eventual episode of doggone near passing out
another real day in the life....
