Another Night

I lay here quietly in the night You are beside me Not needing to be spared My departure To the streets of broken glass Needles in my spine Pin me down to the bed But I must pull free To stay would only cause more pain Needless though it be So lightly I pull myself from the sheets And slip on my boots of despair Into the hall I feel you yelling in your sleep My mind aches with desire But I have somewhere Else to be Frozen in time she cannot see What a man of creativity needs As I reach the balcony I look back One more time to see your breath To feel your spirit And then I take flight To return another night

Uncanny. I'm currently writing about a phantom who comes and goes in the night. I am literally mystified at your line "And then I take flight To return another night". It eerily describes the movement of my phantom. Although it didn't occur to me that phantoms might wear boots :)

Well then, my phantom shall be sent directly to Texas to purchase a pair of boots and some self respect ! Ha

Your phantom must not be from Texas...every self respecting phantom wears boots down here! :) Kilmer
