Animal
When I was small I was a Lion cub
Lion girl wild and strong
Then the world caught up with me
And caged me
So I change
I was a pale dog that did as she was told
Surrounded by red and brown dogs
That really didn't like me
And they were much bigger
After years I changed again
I was a horse
Confident in my ability
To obey
Then everything changed
I still looked like a horse
I covered and painted myself
I hide my stripes
I was a Zebra, white and red
And so alone in that field
Now I'm changing, or trying to
Once I was a strong kind of cat
Maybe I can again
I'll be a Tiger
My stripes are hard earned and harsh and cruel
But I will make them mine
I will clean my paint away
And stand bare and strong and bright
Unflinching in the sun
Dare to condemn my for my past
And there shall be a whole jungle to contend with.
