Angst Ridden

ANGST RIDDEN Sometimes I feel there are too many people inside me: A cool guy telling me not to go to work; And some older woman warning me That workshy people are heading for poverty; And that serious dude always spoiling my fun With dire statements about health or safety; And who invited that woman with the hair in tight bun? She’s always trying to put my life in perspective, And showing how there are all these poor people, Losers who could do with a handout from my hard-earned cash. Sometimes I dunno if I’m coming or going With all these people inside me. One fella tells me I am pretty clever dude, He always has a side-kick called “Yeah But” - Who’s always finding fault with my efforts. Can’t really tell who is right and wrong And in the end I wonder who I really am. ………………………………………………………………………………………

Hi Syd...I was wanting to reread exerpts from Hitler's Diary again....then on to this latest. I actually find this poem fascinating. Self analysis in poetry is fun reading material bc we can ALL relate...we just may not speak of it. I'm gonna count how many people are occupying your head and then rewrite this poem---Occupy Syd--that's what I'll call it. lol..(cool guy, older woman, serious dude, lady with hair in a bun, the complementary fella, side kick). With these 6 voices I have to wonder if they are each paying rent.
