Angel Or Devil
Ebony hunter gliding across the lawn,
fluid movement like folds of satin
flowing from a woman’s gown,
slipping low, back flattened,
emerald eyes fastened on your prey,
animal of ferocious intent springing,
leaving my garden in disarray.
Obsidian angel, eyes softly searching mine,
paws gently kneading,
curling into my lap
sweetly purring a feline song,
settling into your nap,
how is it that you are such a paradox?
Wild and mild all in the same day,
vicious and tame, I am caught in your trap.
