You're a Flower in My Garden Poetry Contest

Sponsor- Tania Kitchin

~ Placed Second~

Amid colorful roses, and lovely dahlias, within a garden, I found my space in a corner, a wildflower bred by no one, Though my mistress wished to uproot me as a weed, I was firmly grounded. My roots so tangled didn’t come off easy, and I refused to budge an inch. So, I was allowed to be there amid the other plants. When she watered her garden, I absorbed some aqua molecules like a sponge. When she manured her plants, I drew nourishment like a famished child. When butterflies befriended lovely flowers, I stayed silent, with a secret craving for an amorous moment. When the season came, I burst into bloom, outshining all other flowers. Yes, I am an Anemone resembling close to Poppy or Dogwood. On my delicate stem, I am cradled by the lullaby of the wind. Now I stay so confident, smile so easily, and laugh without care. I can grow where I like, you cannot tame me, I am a wildflower…!

Whoa!! I have seen seeds for Anemone in flower seeds so now I am wondering if there are weed anemone and flower anemone or if like it is said to some a weed is a flower. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara K

Your poem beautifully captures the resilience and individuality of a wildflower amidst a garden of cultivated blooms. The speaker portrays themselves as a determined and unyielding presence, firmly rooted in their corner despite attempts to uproot them... IT eloquently depicts the wildflower's ability to thrive amidst adversity, drawing sustenance from the soil and water like a sponge and a famished child respectively

A wildflower, that smiles so easily with deep roots on a "delicate stem" laughing! Indeed the anemone is a wonderful metaphor for you - a beautiful flower creating your "own space" in this artistic poetic world! I really love this, dear friend and, now, every time I see this delightful flower I will think of you. Truly, Tania's contest has planted a beautiful garden! Blessings to you!

your poem was delightful, sweet Valsa. This poem about Anemone seems metaphorical and speaks to resilience and beauty while surrounded by more cultivated flowers. The Anemone is certainly true to herself and an inspiration for us reader. Your personification was outstanding as well. This poem and the flower are as beautiful as your poetic spirit is. Best wishes with the contest...great contender. enjoy your evening, Sara

Dearest Valsa, What an extraordinary, beautiful metaphor for resilience and self-discovery. You eloquently convey the strength and determination to remain faithful to oneself despite external pressures through the imagery of a wildflower amidst cultivated blooms. Your poetic words are filled with the spirit of independence and the power of embracing one's uniqueness. This heartfelt piece celebrates the beauty of authenticity and the freedom to bloom wherever life takes us. - Blessings, Daniel

This poem delves into the unyielding spirit of a wildflower, as it challenges societal norms. Exploring the wildflower's journey through a garden, overcoming obstacles, and finally embracing its uniqueness. Your vibrant words illustrate the wildflower's growth"burst into bloom," "cradled by the lullaby of the wind," to create a vivid image. Personification, metaphor (comparing the wildflower to Anemone, Poppy, or Dogwood), and vivid imagery effectively convey the ability to endure and flourish.

"Though my mistress wished to uproot me as a weed, I was firmly grounded. My roots so tangled didn’t come off easy, and I refused to budge an inch." Very delightful. Marching to the beat of one's own drummer, out of place or out of season, no matter. Know one's worth, each of us, a blossom of God!

A strong wildflower you are; one that doesnt need to fit in but will be themselves and true to their soul and heart, this really hits hard dear sweet valsa, your strength and resilience i can feel through your words, and sometimes we all do go through those emotions, such as “ When butterflies befriended lovely flowers, I stayed silent, with a secret craving for an amorous moment“ how profound and heartfelt is that, i felt those lines and every word woven in such a creative manner: i also love your opening lines drew me right in; this is a soul hitting personification with such descriptive imagery. Pleasure reading your work. Fave it is
